On Monday, Jesus Celebration Centre (JCC) faithfuls held a demonstrations against group of alleged squatters who had settled on their church land in Bamburi.
At least 100 church members led by their overseer, Bishop Charles Kwake, took it to the streets to protest against the alleged squatters who were slowing setting up settlement structures in form of houses on church land.
Bishop Kwake said they were threatened when they tried to question the said squatters.
"Some goons were here last week claiming this land belongs to them. They threatened us when we tried to question them and that is why we are here fighting for our right," said Bishop Kwake as quoted by Nation.
He said the church brought the land for Sh20 million few years ago.
"We first bought the land in 1998 where the church is as now. We built schools and we sold the remaining acre to Blue Shield Primary School. After some time we heard they wanted to sell the land and we bought it back at Sh20 million," said the bishop.
Church members who had shown up during the protest said the mabati house structures were being constructed on the land over night.
The members vowed to fight for their church land since it was their money that was invested in it.
"We are here because this piece of land was bought with our money through the endless fundraising we have had before," said Purity Zully, a worshipper.
