Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta not to allow political power brokers to ruin his legacy as he seeks to fulfil his promises before he leaves office in 2022.
Speaking at Kirongo Primary School in Wangu ward during a constituency football tournament on Thursday, Nyoro said he is aware of some leaders who want to derail the head of the state’s agenda.
He asked President Kenyatta to be careful when dealing with individuals such as Jubilee Party Vice-Chair David Murathe. Nyoro noted that Murathe is among the political power brokers who are likely to water down the efforts of the head of state if he is not careful.
“There are some political brokers who are out to ruin the president’s legacy and I request our beloved head of state to adhere to the constitution and not let his legacy be spoilt by people like Murathe," Nyoro said.
Murathe was earlier recorded saying that if the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report is implemented, nothing stops President Kenyatta from holding the Prime Minister position.
Nyoro also asked President Kenyatta to ensure that Kenyans get copies of the BBI report before they can make their final decision.
The legislator said that it is unfortunate that the report has not reached many Kenyans whereas it was released more than a month ago. The lawmaker further said that there is a need for peaceful co-existence among Kenyans if we want to realize the fruits of devolution.
