Kisii County residents have been asked to report corrupt government officials to the authorities for legal action to be taken against them.
Speaking on Friday in Kisii when he officially opened the Kisii Passport Control Center, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i said corruption should not be condoned.
The CS noted that corruption is an enemy to development, adding that there is a need for residents to team up in the fight against graft.
"Anyone who is asked to pay money before accessing government services should report to police for legal action to be taken. Officers who will be working at the Kisii Passport Control Center should maintain a high level of integrity and serve residents equally," said Matiang'i.
Matiang'i said it is the right of every Kenyan to access government services without being asked to give bribes.
He reiterated the need for leaders to shun corruption and utilise public funds wisely in matters development.
"Leaders have the responsibility to use public funds wisely so that we can have projects completed in time without any delay. Theft of public funds is hindering development thus increased poverty," stated Matiang'i.
The cabinet secretary urged State officers to be satisfied with the salaries they get on a monthly basis.
