African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development Raila Odinga on Tuesday held bilateral talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Mr Odinga is in the South East Asia country where he's attending Africa-Indonesia Infrastructural Conference which kicked off earlier on Tuesday.

The meeting between the two focused on how to spur the improvement of strong ties and enhance cooperation between Africa and Asia.

"Met with the President of Indonesia, H.E Joko Widodo the host of the Indonesia-Africa Infrastructure Dialogue that will spur the improvement of strong ties and enhance cooperation between Africa and Indonesia," he wrote.

Earlier, Odinga met the country's Foreign Affairs minister and discussed cooperation between Africa and Indonesia on energy, transport and infrastructure sectors.

"Held talks with @Menlu_RI the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia that focused on increased and improved collaboration between Africa and Indonesia in various sectors. Also present were the host nation’s Ambassadors to Ethiopia, Kenya and South Africa," he tweeted.

Mr Odinga left the country on Sunday for one week. He opened the conference as Africa's representative on Tuesday morning where he called for mutual cooperation.

"Attending #IAIDBali2019 which is a platform for the business community, government officials and other stakeholders from Indonesia and Africa. 

"The forum is aimed at ensuring collaboration in the infrastructure sector is strengthened to produce mutually beneficial results," he said.

For the last three months, Odinga has held talks with several Presidents across the continent on infrastructure. He has visited DR Congo, Ghana, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt in the process.

As AU envoy, Odinga has offices in Cairo, Abuja, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Addis Ababa.
