Professor Makau Mutua has asked Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru to rethink his decision to sue Singer King Kaka over his new hit song Wajinga Nyinyi.
In a tweet, Makau said that the county boss would have made a huge mistake if he goes ahead to sue the artist for the creativity he has applied in his new song in the name of defamation. He reminded her that individuals who are eyeing high political positions do not behave like cry babies.
"Methinks @AnneWaiguru is free to sue for defamation. But it’s a gargantuan strategic mistake. People who aspire to the highest offices in the land must take a punch in the mouth and keep stepping without squealing #NoCryBabies @ahmednasirlaw @DonaldBKipkorir," he said.
In a letter to King Kaka, Waiguru said that he was never taken to court over the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal or any other scandal during his tenure as Cabinet Secretary. She reminded the singer not to peddle lies in the name of singing, arguing that he had spoilt her name.
“You ought to have known that despite extensive investigations and several prosecutions in relation to the loss of funds at NYS, our client has never been charged in a court of law as an accused person in relation to NYS or any other scandal ...,” reads the letter in part.
