The recent memoirs by former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi continue to draw criticism from former Head of Civil Service Sally Kosgei.
Last week, the former Aldai MP disputed claims that she wanted to fly with retired President Daniel Moi to Kabarak after handing over to Mwai Kibaki in 2002.
In the book titled; 'Soaring Above the Storms of Passion', Mudavadi, then a KANU insider, pens down some of his most memorable experiences in politics.
In an interview with Sunday Standard, Kosgei denies Mudavadi's claims that Moi feared to hand over powers to Kibaki when it became clear that the latter will beat Uhuru Kenyatta.
“He may have been the Vice President at the time, but he never participated in our transition plans. He was not party to it as a politician,” Kosgei says of Mudavadi.
In his memoir, the ANC leader says that at the height of the campaigns, they began hearing rumours that Moi was averse to Kibaki taking power from him.
But Kosgei says Moi had no qualms with Kibaki.
“He knew him very well. They had worked together for many years,” she says.
However, she admits that Mudavadi has a nice personality, but adds: “I found him very correct, a little bit secretive but very pleasant.”
Mudavadi served as Vice President for just one month after which KANU candidate Uhuru Kenyatta lost to Mwai Kibaki in 2002 polls.
The ANC leader is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who retires in 2022. He has been very critical of Uhuru's regime.
