Outgoing United Kingdom (UK) High Commissioner to Kenya Nick Hailey has on Wednesday paid a courtesy call and bid farewell to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
In a tweet after the event, Hailey noted that UK will keep working with Kenya's investigative agencies in the fight against graft.
He opined that ending graft is the most important thing in Kenya at the moment.
"Saying farewell to @EACCKenya chairman and team. UK will keep working with them and @DCI_Kenya @ODPP_KE to build corruption cases and trace assets, through our @NCA_UK and @cpsuk teams here. Nothing is more important for Kenya's future than ending impunity on corruption," he said.
He emphasized the need for successful prosecution of corruption suspects so that the country could head in the right direction.
Hailey also visited the Senate and bid farewell to Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
In a tweet, Lusaka thanked Hailey for fostering smooth ties between Kenya and the UK during his tenure as UK High Commissioner.
"Delighted to have had @UKinKenya @HCNicHailey pay me a final courtesy today. Held interesting talks about strengthening devolution, fight against corruption, focus on agriculture as a crucial cog in Kenya’s economy & BREXIT. Despite his tour ending, Nic carries KE in his heart.
"Appreciative of @HCNicHailey close collaboration with @Senate_KE & his notable contribution in enhancing KE-UK relations; which shall remain etched in both our countries’ histories. It is during his tour that the 2nd sitting UK PM visited Kenya (HE @Theresa_May, 2018)," he tweeted.
