Led by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and his Alego/Usonga counterpart Samuel Atandi the lawmakers argued that the second in command is undermining President Uhuru Kenyatta through his utterances.

Speaking on Sunday during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Nyakongo Primary School, Amollo said that the BBI came about as a result of the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga, adding that Ruto has no reason to oppose it.

The MP raised concerns over the recent remarks by the DP regarding the initiative, noting that Ruto is expected to be on the same page as the president if he respects him.

Amollo further argued that the views in the report came from Kenyans nation after the BBI team went round the country.

“If the President of the Republic of Kenya said BBI is a good initiative and must pass, who are you as the deputy to come and contradict him? We will endorse and pass the BBI,” said the MP, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Amollo also said that leaders must unite to ensure that the future of Kenya is bright, adding that the government is doomed if the president and his deputy continue differing over the same issue. His remarks were reiterated by Atandi who said Ruto has to support President Uhuru.

On Sunday, Ruto decided to steer clear of the BBI debate despite Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho attempting to make him declare his stand in public.
