Coffee farmers in Gitura coffee factory in Kabazi Ward, Subukia Sub County, Nakuru County have lamented poor management of their coffee products.
The farmers also claim that the factory funds have been embezzled without prior consultations with all relevant stakeholders.
Speaking on Wednesday, the farmers said that the management headed by their chairman Mr. Joseph Macharia Thara has been ignoring the concerns of farmers and zero work has been going on to improve the living standards of the farmers.
“We are saying enough is enough and we now demand change in the management of this factory” they said.
They accuse his chairmanship saying that it has been denying farmers to audit the operations of the coffee factory saying that loss of funds under ghost projects has been in the rise and whenever they try to air their woes, they are never listened to.
The farmers are now appealing to the government to intervene and help them eject the current leadership as well as conduct financial audits of the factory saying that they are continuing to lose more money despite working under harsh conditions.
However the chairman Joseph Macharia Thara through a phone conversation refuted the farmers’ claims saying that the factory is being run well and any person with a different opinion should seek address through a formal communication.
