The Thirdway Alliance leader had been pushing for changes to reduce representation, which he says will reduce the heavy tax burden currently heaped on Kenyans due to over-representation.

But speaking on Tuesday, the MP noted that the push remains unpopular, predicting doom for it in the next few days, once Kenyans come to finally understand it and its content.

The ODM MP argued that the popularity it is said to be currently enjoying is mere perception, predicting that Kenyans will completely abandon it with time.

"It is perceptively popular. When the people actually discover what it means in essence, then they will not be for it," she said on Citizen TV.

Her comments were echoed by Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, who insisted that the nation does not need any more laws, as there are enough already.

Wangari argued that what the nation currently needs is sincerity in implementing its current laws, adding that cutting the representation as is proposed by Aukot will not have any benefits.

"It is a fallacy to think that by cutting our representation then we will have solved our problems. We do not need a referendum; we have enough laws in our country and all we need is implementation/ seal corruption loopholes where money is lost," she said.

Aukot has since begun lobbying for the approval of the bill at the county assemblies, where he will need the backing of at least 24 for his bid to be realized.
