Oduor is alleged to have demanded the money from a hotelier after he found him operating a hotel without wearing an apron, and filed a case in court.

Consequently, according to reports from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Oduor demanded Sh10,000 bribe to withdraw a case that was set for August 14.

The accused was arrested as he received the money in his office at the Kisumu City Hall on Friday and released on Sh50,000 cash bail.

The arrest was confirmed by Western region EACC Director Ignatius Wekesa, with the accused set to appear before court to face bribery charges on Tuesday.

Wekesa said that his officers are processing the case ahead of the hearing.

On Thursday, an area assistant chief was arrested over similar claims after he was accused of demanding Sh1,500 bribe from one of the citizens in his area.

The administrator reportedly received the money with a promise that he would help the youth from Nyahera to be hired as an enumerator for Kisumu West in the looming census exercise.
