Speaking to members of the press on Sunday after a meeting between coastal leaders and Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, Senator Faki said no one would pay bail for the gangsters if they are arrested.

"No one will go to any police station to have them released because they are the cause of insecurity and problems that we have here in Mombasa (Hakuna mtu ambaye atakwenda katika stesheni yeyote ya polisi kuweza kuwatoa watu kama hawa kwa sababu hawa ndio chanzo kikuwa cha ukosefu wa usalama na matatizo yaliyoko Mombasa, " the Mombasa Senator said

Faki's remark comes hardly days after the suspected Wakali Kwanza gang attacked residents in Bamburi with machetes, sparking widespread revulsion on social media.

Law enforcement authorities say that tremendous progress has been made in bringing the suspects to book.

According to the police, four members of the marauding gang have been killed since January.

There had been concerns that arrested members of the group were being released on bail.

Mombasa leaders have vowed to work closely with the police in neutralising the threat that gangs in the coastal area pose.
