Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has weighed in on the raging Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate.
Writing on Twitter on Saturday, the outspoken governing Jubilee party legislator made a sarcastic comment about the initiative, saying that it would end violence while ensuring that the country unites by force.
In his tweet, the Senate majority leader shared pictures of General Service Unit (GSU) officers in an operation, adding that anyone who opposed the BBI would be ruthlessly dealt with in a bid to drive the sarcasm home.
Fellow Kenyans, BBI is the only way to end violence&politics of exclusion. We must create a nation of only one democratic idea. We’re uniting this country by force. We’ve deployed our officers to ensure that no other idea thrives, Only BBI. Anyone defying will be dealt with ruthlessly, '' the senator said.
Murkomen's sarcastic tweet comes amid campaigns to drum up support for the BBI, which appears to be dividing the country along with political allegiances.
The allies of the deputy president Dr William Ruto have claimed that the BBI is a ploy by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and his allies to prepare for the 2022 presidential elections.
Mr Odinga has denied the charges saying that the BBI is aimed at uniting the country.
