Speaking at St Peter and Paul Catholic Cathedral in Embu County on Sunday, Ruto accused ODM Chairman John Mbadi of using underhand methods to derail the development of churches through the bid to give donations.

The second in command said that he will not relent in the quest to make the churches better as long as he remains in power. He noted that it is unfair for the leaders allied to African Union Special Envoy to question his actions in churches yet they claim they have the will of Kenyans at heart.

Ruto also insisted that no amount of intimidation from any corner will make him change his mind when it comes to supporting churches across the country.

He insisted that he has good plans for the churches, adding that leaders should back him on the same and not condemn his actions. He also noted that it is clear that the opposition has lost direction.

“Some people are so drunk with power that they forget that there is God who created them. They have no respect for God and the church because of the big offices they are holding," he said in reference to Mbadi, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Ruto reminded Mbadi that the push to cap donations to churches is not only ill-timed but also ill-motivated and reminded the Mbadi and his team that they will face the wrath of God if at all they will continue fighting the spread of the gospel.
