Police in Rongai, Nakuru county, are holding a man accused of killing his lover after an argument last month.
33-year-old Earnest Kibet Kemei reportedly slit the throat of Lucy Njeri, 45, at her house in Sobea, over claims that she was cheating.
He then fled after committing the crime before his arrest in Koru, Kisumu County over the weekend and brought back to ahead of his arraignment.
The incident was confirmed by Rongai Sub County Director of Criminal Investigations Dorcas Cherui who said that the accused has since admitted committing the said offence.
She told the Standard that the two were living together, and the accused killed the deceased after suspecting that she was having an affair with another man in the same village.
"We are holding a suspect who allegedly killed a woman he was cohabiting with after he suspected that she was having an affair with another man in the village,” she is quoted.
She said that the body of the deceased was found days after the death, after neighbours became worried after not seeing her for days.
"The deceased body had deep cuts and was discovered by neighbors who broke into her house. The body was lying on the bed,” she added.
Ms Cherui added that police also also investigating a knife found next to the body, which they believe was used in the murder, with the accused set to be arraigned on Monday.
