For the first time in as many months, teams allied to Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions of Jubilee party shared podium in Nyamira with both sides toning down.
The teams have been trading barbs over Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, whose details will be made public on Tuesday this week at State House.
In Gusii, the Tangatanga brigade has held several rallies, in which Deputy President William Ruto has personally attended in more than 20 occasions for the past two years.
At Bonyunyu SDA Church in West Mugirango, the teams called for tolerance, arguing that Kenya is important than 'cheap political divisions'.
West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, who was the host and a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, said unity is important for prosperity.
"Let us differ ideologically. Trading barbs and abusing each other will not solve our economic problems. We must embrace peace," said Kemosi.
Kisii Governor James Ongwae who attended the function and a key member of the handshake team supported the remarks, adding that politicians should stop divisive politics.
"We should not divide people because of our personal interests. Let's stop unnecessary politicking and develop the country," Ongwae said.
His deputy Joash Maangi, another key member of Tangatanga said the BBI report will be discussed objectively, adding that consensus could play key in negotiations.
During the fundraiser, Sh1.4 million was raised by the leaders and other members of the community.
Bogichora MCA George Abuga was the local host.
