President Uhuru Kenyatta has been warned that the fast-paced Miguna Miguna debacle will soil his legacy.
Speaking on Thursday during a panel discussion on K24 Television, renowned lawyer Kipchumba Karori held the view that the head of state risks being remembered as the president during whose leadership Miguna's rights were violated.
"The danger that he poses now is even to the Uhuru Kenyatta legacy. He will not run away from the fact that his government disobeyed court orders and the Miguna issue is so loud out there. When we finally take stock of the Uhuru Kenyatta, ten years from now, one of the things that will paint him in a bad light is the Miguna issue," the lawyer said. (10:13-10:39)
The Uhuru-led administration has come under blistering attacks over what critics say is the government's blatant disregard for court orders.
A court had ruled that the government facilitates the return of Miguna Miguna to the country, an order that the state is yet to honour.
Miguna Miguna is currently held up at a German airport after the Kenyan immigration issued red alerts to airlines against Miguna.
In a statement on Wednesday, the government said that it would only allow him back into the country after he makes a point of acquiring travel documents.
