An assistant chief from Molo is appealing to members of the public to help him trace the whereabouts of a 15-year-old boy who went missing after undergoing circumcision.
Jeremiah Kirui said the boy from Cheseon Sub-Location, Sachangwan Division in Molo Sub-County ran away after undergoing the cut.
Kirui said the boy identified as Mburu Kariuki was staying in a hut together with another boy after undergoing the right of passage.
Mburu is reported to have escaped through a window in the hut on Monday and no one has heard from him since then.
The assistant chief said that the initiate was dressed in the traditional initiation attire.
“The boy escaped through a window in a hut where he was staying after undergoing the rite of passage during the morning hours,” said Kirui.
Kirui appealed to members of the public to give any information that could reveal the whereabouts of the minor. The boy's family a well as residents in the area have since launched a search operation.
The assistant chief said the family which is desperately looking for their son could not establish why the boy would disappear without telling anyone about his whereabouts.
Area residents claim that the teenager escaped after the person who was taking care of them left for Sachangwan centre to run some errands.
