Kenyan social media users expressed sympathy towards popular Citizen TV news anchor Yvonne Okwara, after she appeared to strain while reading news on Tuesday night.
The netizens suggested that the news anchor who moved from KTN News to Citizen TV may have been suffering from a cold or sore throat.
A section of Kenyans commended Yvonne Okwara for being strong and reading the news, despite her evident sore throat that made her voice almost disappear at some point.
They claimed she had shown her passion in the field and led as an example, that one should not use excuses to avoid working.
A group of the Kenyans on Twitter(KOT), however, hit out at the TV station for allowing Yvonne Okwara to continue reading the news in that state. They wondered why the media house did not bring in another news anchor to take over the bulletin and excuse Okwara.
Some of the netizens suggested that the station should have taken the chance to introduce an upcoming journalist into the field.
Yvonne Okwara, who is one of the top media personalities with a lot of experience in the field, has not yet commented on the matter.
