ODM director of communications Philip Etale has taken issue with artists who praised the government in the run-up to 2017 elections only to make U-turns.
In a tweet on Sunday afternoon, Etale claimed that many of those artists sang songs full of praise to the government of the day while turning a blind eye to their failures.
The ODM official accused the singers of co-hosting political and music performance events during 2017 election campaigns.
Further, Etale alleged that politicians funded their performance in order to continue lauding them as they enjoy the accolades.
"In 2017, most Kenyan artists were pro-government. They whined and dined with those they now call oppressors. They wallowed and swam in money. They enjoyed every bit of the tune they sang as their funders danced joyfully. Sasa ni nani WAJINGA," read the tweet.
The tweet seemed to be directed at King Kaka who on Wednesday released a song entitled 'Wajinga Nyinyi' which lambasted Kenyans for voting in bad leaders who had failed to make progressive policies aimed at solving a variety of socio-economic challenges facing Kenyans.
In his song, King Kaka had further pointed out instances of runaway corruption in government as one of the problems Kenyan leaders had failed to address.
He cited NYS scandal and court cases on the theft of public funds involving high profile leaders like governors Mike Sonko (Nairobi) and Ferdinand Waititu (Kiambu) as some of the best exemplifications of failed leadership in the country.
Other Musicians who have gotten the attention of the public after criticising Kenya's bungled leadership in the past include Juliana, Boyband Sauti Sol, Eric Wainaina among others.
