They are now under the mercy of Deputy Governor Dr Hillary Barchok who will take over the county's leadership.

According to Article 179 of the Constitution, when a county governor's seat is declared vacant, all the County Executive Committee members, he/she appointed also cease to exist.

“If a vacancy occurs in the office of county governor, the deputy county governor shall assume office as county governor for the remainder of the term of the county governor,” Article 182(2) of the Constitution reads.

However, once sworn in, the incoming governor could choose to continue working with the existing CECs.

The CECs include' Justus K. Maina  for ICT and Public Service, Andrew Kimutai Sigei for Finance, Justus K. Tuei for Agriculture, Benson Kiplangat Sang for Environment, Joseph Kipruto Ngeno for Medical Services and Public Health, Juliana Yegon for Education, Daisy Chelagat Rono for Land, Philip Kipngeno Sowek for Transport, Bernard Kipkorir Ng’eno for Youth, Gender and Sports.

Should Dr Barchok, after taking office as Governor, choose to retain the CECs appointed by later Dr Laboso, they will be required to take a new oath of office.

Dr Laboso died on Monday from cancer. She will be buried on Saturday in Koru.
