Kenya Premier League (KPL) team Chemelil Sugar failed to turn up for the match against Bandari FC on Saturday Mbaraki Mombasa.
Chemelil Sugar's failure to turn up consequently handed Bandari FC their first walk over victory.
The incident comes at a time that a number of the KPL teams have raised concern over financial constraints.
Five teams including Chemelil had initially written to the the organizers of KPL to postpone the league claiming that they had financial challenges.
Sony Sugar who were also scheduled to play against Tusker FC did not also play the match.
Citizen TV reported that Kenyan Premier League (KPL) chairman Chairman Jack Oguda wrote to the government requesting for for financial assistance so as to facilitate teams which were experiencing financial crisis.
Kenya Premier League currently does not have any sponsors or partners.
This is after the exit of Sportpesa betting company which was financing some of the teams in the KPL.
Sportpesa was forced to leave the Kenyan market due to what they termed as harsh government policies es[ecially when in came to taxation.
Bandari FC will now have to wait for KPL to make a decision on the way forward for the league.
Bandari FC will later on travel to Conakry Guinea for a match against Horoya AC in the CAF Confederation playoff match.
