Musician Otile Brown recently shared a photo on his Instagram account posing with a YouTube Silver Play Button award.
The Silver Play Button is an award that is given out to channels that reach or surpass 100,000 subscribers. The ‘Alivyonipenda’ hitmaker took to Instagram to appreciate his fans for the support they have given him.
“We’re grinding. Thank you Fam for the love and support cc @youtube," Otile Brown wrote on YouTube.
The artists' YouTube channel currently has 259,138 subscribers making him the third artist with most subscribers in Kenya after Sauti Sol and Willy Paul. Sauti Sol’s YouTube channel has the highest number of subscribers with 322,511 while controversial gospel artist Willy Paul comes in second with 318,161 subscribers.
YouTube normally gives out the awards which are categorized into three upon meeting the required number of subscribers. The first stage is Silver Play button which requires one to get 100,000 subscribers, the second stage is Gold Play Button which requires one to get more than 1,000,000 subscribers and the third and final stage is Diamond Play Button which requires more than 10,000,000 subscribers.
YouTube is one of the sources of income for artists, and therefore Otile Brown’s emergence as one of the most followed Kenyan artists also contributes positively to his income.
