After winning the Family Group Half Marathon race in Eldoret town on Sunday, Daniel Simiu has his eyes on bigger races in future.

Simiu, 24, said that he is looking forward to participating in the 2020 Olympics.

He won the Eldoret race after clocking 63.00 minutes ahead of Moses Kibet and Andrew Kwemboi who finished second and third in the time of 63:38 and 63:44 minutes respectively. 

"It was a tough and competitive race that attracted many runners. I thank God I sustained the pace. I have been training in Iten since January. I am now preparing for the Olympics next year," said Simiu.

He said that despite the competitive race he has never faced before and manage to emerge a winner. He is now looking forward for starling performance in championship races.

“Wining family bank marathon is just but a platform to showcases my capabilities of performing better in future events," Simiu who was participating in the race for the first time said.

He attributed his success to his commitment to training and discipline thrive.
