South Africa is back in the news for all the wrong reasons.
The country is grappling with an outbreak of xenophobic violence that has seen foreign nationals with investments in the country targeted by irate locals.
This in spite of President Cyril Ramaphosa taking the trouble in June while attending Kenya's Madaraka Day celebrations to apologise to Kenyans.
In a video shared online by KTN of the South African President making his remarks, Ramaphosa tenders his apology to the Kenyan people.
"This also gives us the opportunity to extend a word of apology to you as Kenyans and indeed to all Africans for the recent events that occurred in our country where some of our countrymen and women took their anger out against their fellow Africans because of the economic hardship they are going through, " President Ramaphosa said.
The video has emerged amid an international outcry over the latest outbreak of xenophobic violence in the country.
There have been retaliatory attacks on South Africa-owned businesses located in other countries in Africa.
Videos of South African businesses being attacked in Nigeria have been awash on social media.
Among those affected by the mayhem in South Africa are Kenyans living in the country.
The Kenyan government says it is in touch with the South African government as it closely monitors proceedings.
