Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) arrested Limuru Police Constable Reagan Otieno Oyugi alongside George Obonyo Orwa and Calvin Nyaur on Friday for allegedly posing as Interpol officers on special operation within Great Wall gardens in Athi River Sub-County.
The DCI took to its official Twitter page to confirm the incident.
"Police Constable Reagan Otieno Oyugi of DCI Limuru was yesterday arrested alongside George Obonyo Orwa and Calvin Nyaure who were personating National Intelligence Service and Interpol officers on special operation within Great Wall gardens in Athi River Sub-County.At the time of arrest, the trio were on board a motor vehicle registration number KAJ 934L and upon search, 1 loaded mini ceska pistol, a pair of handcuffs, a mobile phone resembling a police pocket phone, 2 finger print slabs, a rubber stamp,..... 10 renewal of firearm certificates and 1 civilian firearm certificate were recovered,"reads the DCI Tweet.
The trio is in custody as they investigations into the matter begins.
"The suspects are in lawful custody as further investigations continue,"part of the tweet reads.
Cases of people impersonating police officers have increased.
