Sarah Wairimu, Tob Cohen's widow has been released on a Sh2 million bail or Sh4 million bond.
Appearing before Justice Stella Mutuku on Friday, Sarah was released after the prosecution failed to prove to the court that she was a flight risk.
‘’For this reason, it is my finding and I so hold that this court has no reason to deny the accused her right to bail if the absence of proof of compelling reasons. Consequently, I hereby allow the application and admit the accused to bail or bond,’’ said Justice Stella Mutuku.
More so, the judge dismissed claims that Sarah new her husband's killers.
The prosecution had indicated that Sarah acted in contempt when she said during her husband's burial on 24 September 2019 that she knew those responsible for his murder.
Sarah is a key suspect in the murder of the late Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen. Alongside the other two other suspects, the three are being accused of killing Cohen and dumping his body in a septic tank.
Cohen who was reported missing on July 19, 2019, was recovered on 13 September 2019, a month and few weeks at his Kitisuru home in a septic tank.
After her release, the prosecution expressed their disappointment.
“We are praying to be allowed to seek legal redress at the Court of Appeal,” said the prosecution as quoted by K24 Digital.
Sarah has been ordered not to go at their Kitisuru home or any of their businesses owned by her late husband.
Her travel documents were taken by the court.
