Central Organisation for Trade Unions boss Francis Atwoli has hailed ODM leader Raila Odinga as a 'sophisticated politician' whose legacy will remain forever.
Addressing a continental trade union event in Nairobi, Atwoli showered Mr Odinga with praises, maintaining that no politician can match him..
The veteran trade unionist said Raila's mode of operations keeps confusing his supporters and critics, adding that he's the 'mysterious one'.
Raila, Atwoli said, believes in fighting for equity, a virtue that most politicians lack. He said Kenya would have never been the same without him.
Atwoli who showered Raila with praises for over 20 minutes, said the party leader befits all his nicknames which include; Agwambo, the enigma in Kenyan politics among others.
"I look at Raila's life and for us who labour for workers and come from pressure groups, we have always admired you. There is no doubt that you love your people," he said.
"Obama's father was from the same village where your were born ...and that is why we have wonderful people like you that make global impact. You're one of the most sophisticated politician."
Raila who stood up said "What he forgot to tell you is that he is the cousin to president Obama."
Mr Odinga's decision to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Atwoli added, caught many politicians by surprise last year. He said the move has brought about relative peace in Kenya.
In his Flames of Freedom, Mr Odinga cites several instances where assassination attempts against him by subsequent governments failed.
The ODM leader has claimed victory in the past three presidential polls, accusing electoral body of rigging him. He was appointed Prime Minister in 2008 following electoral dispute with President Mwai Kibaki.
