Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui attempt to save County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Roads Lucy Kariuki has failed.
This is after Members of County Assembly on Tuesday impeached her of what they term as abuse of office. A majority of 49 out of 71 MCAs voted for her removal from office leaving the county boss in a state of dilemma.
On Monday, Kinyanjui had attempted to transfer the embattled CEC after transferring her to the department of Youth and Gender in a mini-cabinet reshuffle but the MCAs stood their ground and impeached her.
The process of impeaching her had started on Thursday last week but the MCAs differed over the voting procedures before she was send home on Tuesday.
The legislators have affirmed that they will not allow her serve in any capacity because she mismanaged the county’s Boresha Barabara initiative.
The lawmakers said that the development of infrastructure in 55 wards in the county has hit a dead end because of her selfishness and poor leadership skills following her appointment into office.
The MCAs have also accused her of having a bad relationship with her colleagues at work.
Ms Kariuki, a former Kenya Pipeline Engineer, has, however, maintained that she is clean.
