Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi has slammed celebrated rapper King Kaka a day after he released his hit song 'Wanjinga Nyinyi'.
In the song, Kaka hits out at the Women Representatives, accusing them of stealing money for buying sanitary pads for young school girls.
Responding to the claims, Gedi told off the rapper and accused him of being sponsored to produce the song by unnamed individuals, who allegedly won tender to supply sanitary pads.
In a tweet on Sunday, the legislator asked King Kaka to speak about the multi-billion Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal and stop castigating Women Reps.
"My sister let him talk about Kimwarer and Arror money. Does he know those who sent him to compose the song were awarded the tender for sanitary pads and messed our girls. Mjinga Ni Wewe," Gedi tweeted.
Gedi was backing remarks by her colleague Esther Passaris (Nairobi), who defended Women Reps from Kaka's allegations, noting that the mandate to supply the sanitary pads was under the Ministry of Education, which is led by Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.
"He has no idea that we do not control the sanitary towels budget, we only aided the distribution (not all counties received) with the county Commissioners office and all the area chiefs. We as women reps have also been following up sanitary towels with the current line Ministry Education," Passaris tweeted.
