The DP has been under pressure to reveal the source of the millions he gives to harambees, with some politicians saying that his sources cannot match the amounts he gives out.

Weighing-in on the same on Saturday, the former Subukia MP urged Kenyans to begin questioning the source of the money.

He made the remark he made when the DP was holding similar functions a tens of kilometres from the Sauti Ya Mwananchi studios where he was a panelist in the Cheche interview show.

"I hear the DP has been in Subukia for harambee events. But Kenyans cannot question the source of such funds (Naskia naibu wa Rais amekuwa Subukia kwa mambo ya harambee, na wakenya hawaulizi hizi pesa zimetoka wapi)," he said.

The DP was on the other hand in Subukia Sub County, a constituency Koigi once represented in parliament.

Koigi, a former Assistant Cabinet Minister lashed out at Kenyans for blindly accepting monies from the political class and glorifying the givers without scrutinizing its sources.

"When you take the money to them the people celebrate but dont queation its source (Ukipeleka hizo pesa watu wanashangilia hawaulizi zimetoka wapi)," he added.

Ruto's money has also been questioned by members of the opposition, but he has since hit back,  saying that its only a person who lost their money and found it in his accounts should complain.
