The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has summoned Ganda County Assembly Ward candidates following the death of one person on Tuesday.
Reuben Katana was gunned down at his home in Ganda.
It is believed chaos erupted after Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa stormed Katana's home where her supporters and those of ODM clashed and a scuffle ensued.
In a tweet on Wednesday, the electoral body released a detailed statement concerning the incidence in Ganda Ward.
‘’As investigations are being carried out by the DCI, the commission has on its part summoned the two candidate involved namely Abdul Omar Mohamed (Independent Candidate) and Reuben Katana Mwamure (ODM) to record statements,’’ read part of the statement.
The by-elections are slated for October 17, 2019.
They further advised residents to avail themselves on the election date as nothing has changed assuring them that security will be tight.
