In a bid to strengthen the Kenya Defense Forces team, the ministry of defense on Friday advertised 2019 recruitment, which will kick off later this month.
The exercise will see additional members to around 25,000 active soldiers, majority of them who are in Somalia in the war against Al-Shabaab militants.
Successful candidates will be absorbed to all three command services; Kenya Army, Kenya Navy and Kenya Air Force.
Interested candidates for General Service Officers (GSO) Cadets and Specialist officers are expected to make formal applications to the Ministry of Defense.
For General Duty Recruits, an itinerary has been published in which they are supposed to appear for physical recruitment exercise to be conducted in every constituency.
"The Ministry of Defence is pleased to advertise to the public the recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialist Officers, General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen/women and Defence Forces Constables into the Kenya Defence Forces," KDF said.
Exclusive details for applications can be obtained from the ministry's website. Also see print media press on Monday 14th October 2019 and Sunday 20th October 2019.
Last year, Vice Chief of Defense Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi warned Kenyans against bribing unscrupulous middlemen when seeking for such vacancies.
“Many Kenyans have in the past fallen prey to unscrupulous conmen masquerading as KDF officers promising to secure them placement in the military. Any person purporting to have influence to recruit or issue calling letters away from the designated recruitment centres will be a conman or woman," said Kibochi.
He added that they were committed to conducting a free and fare exercise and advised citizens against giving out bribes.
“Should anyone give a bribe with the aim of securing a place during this recruitment, they will have themselves to blame," added the Vice chief of staff.
Cadets usually take a three-year military training course at Kenya Military Academy in Lanet while recruits take nine months at Recruits Training School in Eldoret. Specialist officers such as journalist take not less than three months training.
Kenya Defense Forces's spending became the biggest in East Africa, with the goverment increasing the budget from Sh114 billion to Sh121 billion. The money is used for recurrent expenditure and operations.
