The Kenyan media has in the recent past faced criticism from several politicians over coverage of news, with some stations accused of biased reporting.

For instance, Deputy President William Ruto has been going ballistic against the media, accusing it of misleading coverage.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Khalwale wondered how two media houses can report different things from the same event.

"Amazing how different media houses in Kenya see and hear different things while covering the same function. Githeri!" he wrote.

His criticism comes hours after the ODM party distanced itself from claims that it is supporting creation of a powerful PM post, as reported by a number of local publications.

"Party statement yesterday was clear. The speech by the party leader at the NEC/PG meeting was equally clear. Nowhere did either of two touched on the issue of the PM as is being blown out by a section of the media. Our position remains clear, People must read the BBI report to understand," it said in a tweet.

Issues of misreporting in the media are common, with a number of them at times taken to court over alleged defamation especially in political reporting.
