The mother of the late Kibra MP Kenneth Okoth, Angelina Okoth, was not aware of his son's cremation.
It has now emerged that the body of the lawmaker was cremated without the knowledge of the mother at Kariokor crematorium in Nairobi County.
In an interview with Citizen Digital at the Lee Funeral Home on Saturday, Evans Olouch, Okoth’s nephew, Okoth’s mother and other members of his extended family claimed that they were not informed about the plans to cremate his body before the process took place.
Oluoch alleged that the family members never met before the process
“The family did not meet, if the family met, then Ken’s mum would have been there,” said Oluoch.
“We only woke up to news that Ken has been cremated. Ken’s mum was fully opposed to his cremation and wanted the body to be buried next to her house,” he added.
He also said that the deceased MP never said he wanted to be cremated as alleged by other family members. He insisted that there was the need for the mother to know before the cremation but that didn’t happen.
The mother had reportedly insisted that the son should be laid to rest at her rural home at Kabondo Kasipul and not cremated.
Nairobi MCA Anne Thumbi who is reportedly said to have had an affair with Oktoh was also not informed about the process before it was undertaken.
