Collymore succumbed after a long battle with cancer on Monday morning, a death that hit the entire nation with shock.

Safaricom Board Chairman Nicholas Nganga has revealed that Collymore will be cremated at a private function in Nairobi on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Michael Joseph Centre, Nganga added that the cremation will only be attended by family members.

A funeral service in his honour is set to follow days later, within the week.

"There will be a private interment process tomorrow but, later on in the week, hopefully, Thursday or Friday, there will be a memorial service for all those who knew and cared for Bob,” said Ng'ang'a.

He added that though the company is still at loss on what to do to cover the gap he has left, it's confident that the vacuum will be properly handled before a new person takes over.

"We (Board) are still coming to grips with what has happened but we’re clear that the company is in good hands and will continue to offer all the services that it’s been offering,” he added.

Collymore has been succeeded by a wife, Wambui Kamiru Collymore, and four children.
