The bodies of a 70-year-old woman and her son who had been murdered were found on Sunday at Waitwa village in Murang’a County.
According to the neighbours, the body of Benson Muhungi was discovered on a path that leads to their family home. Not far away from him was the body of his mother Margaret Nyambura which had been covered with a blanket.
Kandara Deputy Police Commander Paul Wambugu confirmed the incident and further pointed out that the body of Margaret Nyambura had been moved from the kitchen to the path where it was discovered. The police officer added that the two appeared to have been hit by blunt objects on their heads.
“The woman was dragged for about 10 meters from her kitchen by her assailant,” said Wambugu.
He suggested that the motive of the killer may have been revenge.
“The killers seem to have been on a revenge mission,” Wambugu added.
Margeret Nyambura who is said to have been living with her son is believed to have been cooking when she met her death.
Investigations into the incident have been launched. Police have also called upon any member of the public with useful information to volunteer and share with the investigators.
