Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has broken his silence over allegations of working with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022 polls.
Moments after former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama said that he will call for a meeting to deliberate on the community to work with Ruto, Kalonzo said that the claims will drive a wedge between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said that the comments by the Muthama are not only malicious but also intended to create bad blood between him and other leaders.
The former Vice President maintained that he is committed to the task he was given by the President.
He said that Muthama's remarks are not attributed to him in any way, adding that he will not declare his stand at the moment until the next general elections expected in 2022.
"In the light of recent conversations and speculations about working with DP @WilliamsRuto, please note that these speculations are malicious. They are a desperate attempt to drive a wedge between me and president... Remarks by individuals should not be attributed to me," Kalonzo tweeted.
Muthama had been quoted said that the Kamba nation will not waste time backing ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga and that he will root for an alliance between Kalonzo and DP Ruto among others before the next general elections.
“I will soon convene a meeting of all elected leaders including MPs and MCAs as well as opinion leaders so that we dialogue over this matter. Our (Kamba’s) political chapter with ODM leader Raila Odinga is closed. We will negotiate with Ruto, Musalia (Musalia) and Moses (Wetangula),” said the former Machakos Senator as quoted by Standard.
