A section of leaders from Nyandarua County has claimed that it was barred from accessing the venue of a meeting held by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a joint statement to the press, they alleged that they were kept away by the people who were in charge of security.
They claimed that they were deliberately barred from the venue so that they could not raise pressing issues that they had like what they described the marginalization of the county from state appointments.
"However, we are concerned that the stakeholders meeting called by the president to discuss issues affecting Nyandarua county for instance price of milk, plight of potato farmers... did not go as planned since elected leaders were barred from the meeting, " the statement read in part as delivered by Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho Njuguna. The head of state visited the county on Friday and was welcomed by the governor Francis Kimemia.
During his visit the head of state announced a number of development projects in the county. The projects included the launch of a 1.8 billion shillings road from Naivasha to Njabini.
In his speech to the residents, the president warned against politicians who are politicking at the expense of working for the people that elected them.
