Kevin Otieno Musula, a form two student at Bar-ding Secondary School, was reported missing on September 8, before his relatives found his lifeless body on Wednesday.

Bar-ding Deputy Principal David Onyango said the happenings that preceded Otieno's disappearance from his home in Gem, suggest he might have committed suicide.

Onyango said the boy was sent home over fee arrears on the same day he went missing.

The teacher said that according to Otieno's grandmother Rosalia Nyasigunga, the boy got home, phoned his elder brother, who was in-charge of paying his fees and notified him of the arrears.

Citing the grandmother, the teacher further noted that the deceased was angry that the brother said he could only send Sh3,000, yet he had arrears of Sh8,000. The boy reportedly walked out angry, never to return again.

The Deputy Principal divulged that after days on unfruitful searching, the family was forced to called the brother who was in Nairobi to help with the search.

However, no success was made until yesterday, when his body was found along the river bank in Sirandu village, Gem.

The body was taken to the Siaya County Referral Hospital morgue pending a pathological test, with investigations into the matter having kicked off.
