Political analyst and strategist Benji Ndolo has raised alarm that Auditor General Edward Ouko's exit might land the nation in financial problems, especially at the county level.

As the AG exits following the lapse of his term, Ndolo says that the empty position in the offoce could allow some rogue governors some time to stick their hands into the county coffers.

He says that the absence of the office holder will see them make an easy exit from the courts should they be arraigned in the future, by simply asking for the Auditor General's signature.

"Some of these constitutional commissions are a bit sensitive. If the Auditor General walks away cold on 27th Aug a rogue governor will steal money and say in court the Report has no signature on Sep 10th there was no auditor per se’ and he’ll be acquitted," he tweeted on Monday.

Initial reports indicated that the government would spend Sh41.2 million to audit the financial statements that have been pending in Ouko's office for the last four years.

His eight years in office has been marred with constant clashes with state officers and county leaderships thanks to his revelations of misused funds, most of which the allegedly involved persons rubbished.
