State House secretary digital in the communications department Dennis Itumbi has reacted to the outcome of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nomination exercise that took place on Saturday and saw Imran Okoth declared a winner.
In a tweet on Sunday, Itumbi said that ODM had settled on a good candidate to take on the governing Jubilee party's McDonald Mariga.
He also congratulated the Orange party for staging a peaceful nomination exercise.
"@TheODMparty had a peaceful nomination in Kibra! Congratulations. Only 4.88% of the voters in the 170k strong constituency turned up for the vote. But they settled on a good candidate against @MarigaOfficial Importantly, it was a peaceful vote. Congratulations, " Itumbi's tweet read.
Imran Okoth, who is the brother of the late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth's brother, beat nine other candidates to win the ODM ticket.
He will now take on Amani National Congress's Eliud Owalo, and Jubilee's Mariga.
The Kibra parliamentary by-election is slated for November 7.
Kibra Constituency is widely regarded as Raila Odinga's turf, having represented residents for many years as Langata MP.
There had been complaints from some aspirants who claimed that the process was not well conducted.
Brian Shem Owino claimed that there were names of eligible voters which were missing on the register that the ODM party was using in the exercise.
