University don Prof Edward Kisiang'ani has questioned remarks by his fellow lecturer Prof Herman Manyora, that the handshake team will only manage to neutralise Deputy President William Ruto by using Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

In his YouTube analysis channel, Take It or Leave It, Manyora said should the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) recommend a referendum, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will only defeat Ruto by bringing to their side the flamboyant city boss.

He said should Ruto decide to oppose the referendum, Sonko will be helpful in convincing the youth to rally behind the handshake team due to his wide influence across the country.

The communication and linguistics tutor at the University of Nairobi opined it would be a tall order for the 'dynasties' to deflate the hustler nation without the help of youthful Nairobi Governor.

"In order to deflate the hustler's (Ruto) card missiles, you need somebody who can penetrate the hustler nation and one man stands out; Mike Mbuvi Sonko," Manyora said.

Reacting to the remarks, Kisiang'ani wondered the need to use Sonko to fight the DP if the BBI was good and meant to unite the country as both Uhuru and Raila have repeatedly said.

"My respected brother and distinguished political thinker, Prof Manyora, says the weapon to use to defeat DP Ruto and his hustler nation is to unleash Governor Sonko. My question is: If BBI is that good in its content, why do we have to unleash Sonko to  boost it and to thwart Ruto?" he posed on Saturday.
