The re-appointment of 'old' citizens to top government positions has sparked an outcry among the youths across Kiambu county.
Wilson Tao, a youth representative from Juja sub-county has expressed displeasure in what he has termed as youths being sidelined by both county and national governments in awarding jobs.
He further wondered why most jobs have the experience prequalification yet the youths are not being given opportunities to gain the experience.
''As much as these old folks have the experience in their areas of appointment, we the youths also have the energy as well as the brains to take up such chances and we should not be sidelined,” Tao said as quoted by Kenya News Agency.
Dennis Kariuki, a 25-year-old who is a second clothes dealer also criticized the youthful politicians who he expected to highlight the unemployment the youths are facing.
''So many youths have been rendered and stripped of their opportunities at places of work created for them by senior members of the nation,” Kariuki said.
The sentiments come after 'senior citizens' including former Othaya MP Mary Wambui were among the beneficiaries of the latest state appointments.
Wambui was appointed as the National Employment Authority chairperson. However, the court has suspended her appointment after a petition was filed by Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association.
