It has finally been revealed why Tanzania's Clouds Media does not play Diamond Platnumz's music.
Diamond who is considered the best artist in the East Africa region enjoys great airplay in most media houses, including here in Kenya that play at least one of his songs before the day ends.
However, this is not the situation in Tanzania where one of the country's largest private media house, Clouds Media, does not play the 'Baba Lao' hit maker's songs.
Clouds Media Group founder and CEO Joseph Kusaga has said that his media house, Clouds FM, does not play some songs because they are told to write letters to request to play the songs, which he finds hard to do.
"If you are asked why you are playing this song, write a request letter to play the song...I Joseph Kusaga to write a letter to request to play a song? Ahaa (wewe ukiambiwa kwa nini unapiga hii nyimbo, andika barua kuomba kupiga, Joseph Kusaga aandike barua kupiga, aha!)," he said in an interview with Wasafi TV.
Mr Kusaga added that it is not of big concern business-wise if his media house fails to play songs from some artists.
"When your song is not given airplay it does not mean that my business does not prosper. (isipopigwa nyimbo yako sio kwamba mimi biashara yangu haiendi.)," he said.
It was revealed that one of the reasons why Diamond started the media business was because Clouds Media was not playing his songs.
