The man, who, Standard reports was later identified as Alex Opondo was arrested moments after he arrived into the country from Uganda.

He was carrying the substance in the form of white powder wrapped in a packet meant for carrying soya beans when he was arrested at the City Estate.

Police said that the suspect informed them that the substance was meant for local consumption.

The anti-narcotics detectives stormed the area and arrested the suspect in the drug saga after they received a tipoff from the police.

It emerged that the man has been conducting the illegal business for some months before he was arrested over the same.

The incident comes at a time when cases of drug trafficking have become rampant in the country in the recent past. The government has since announced that it will not tolerate any cases of the illegal business.

The suspect is set to appear before the court on Monday.
