Political analyst Herman Manyora has predicted tough days for Deputy President William Ruto should he continue playing against the handshake side of the political divide.
He says that Ruto might lose dearly should he come between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga and the goals they seek to achieve through constitutional changes.
Speaking on Friday, he urged the DP to be extra careful on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) issue, which could result in amendments, or face the political wrath of the two.
"If the handshake team realizes that William Samoei Ruto is becoming too smart, as indeed I suspect, they will just crush you. William Samoei Ruto, be careful," he said.
He said that if the DP is planning a counterplot against the proposed changes and more that could be introduced shortly, he should be sure that his plot will succeed.
According to the university professor, Ruto is now dealing with the system, which will not hesitate to crush him if he becomes a threat.
"If you realize that you will not succeed, join them," he added.
His remarks come at a time when the DP, who had initially announced that he will not accept any changes, has changed tact and is dancing along to the wishes of the two.
He has since embraced the BBI report, suggestions to implement its recommendations through a referendum and Uhuru's extension of the BBI taskforce tenure on Wednesday.
