Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has sided with two MPs from Nakuru county, who were earlier in the week blocked from a presidential function in Nakuru Town.
They have blamed their woes on local politicians, specifically Nakuru governor Lee Kinyajui, accusing him of playing local politics with an aim of degrading them politically.
On Saturday, Mwaura agreed with the argument, observing that in Kihika's case, she might have been locked out because of her popularity, which makes her a real threat to Kinyanjui in 2022.
"It's possible that since Kihika is being seen as a possible gubernatorial aspirant and the governor had to block her so that she doesn't get the chance to say something that might impress the residents. (Kihika huenda anataka ugavana na yule gavana aliye pale lazima amzuie ili asije akapata nafasi akasema kitu kitakachofurahisha wananchi)," the senator said on Radio Jambo.
He pointed out that the president does not issue invitations to such functions, which clears him of any blame.
The legislator nominated by the Jubilee party also suggested that the local leaders behind the blockage of the two could have done the same to ensure that they enjoy the credit of issuance of the title deeds all alone.
According to the lawmaker, the plan might have been to ensure that they are not seen at the function so that they don't get any mileage from the issuance of the titles.
"Huenda walitupwa nje kwa sababu wako upande wa Tangatanga na watu wanaotaka waonekane kama ndio wamesaidia kuletea wananchi zile tittle," he added.
This translates to; "They might have been locked out on grounds that they are members of Tangatanga, by people who want to be seen as having played a role in the issuance of the titles."
Governor Kinyanjui has since rubbished the allegations heaped on him by the two lawmakers, terming them unfortunate outbursts.
