Renowned television host and socio-political commentator Tony Gachoka has revealed the disappointment he felt when President Uhuru endorsed the governing Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga at State House.
Speaking on his 'Pointblank' show on Wednesday night during an interview with Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua, appeared to suggest that the move by the head of state would put the handshake in danger.
"Last week Uhuru endorsed Mariga to KIbra and i was not happy. How do go forward with the handshake if you and Raila contest in Kibra? " He said.
The head of state's move to throw his weight behind the Jubilee candidate fueled speculation about what the move would mean for his political relationship with veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga given that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party fronted a candidate.
ODM fielded Imran Okoth, who is the brother of the late former Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.
The seat fell vacant after Ken Okoth lost his battle with cancer after undergoing treatment in France.
Raila Odinga has made no mention of Uhuru's endorsement for the former Harambee Stars' player at least not publicly.
Kibra is an ODM turf having been represented by Raila Odinga for year.
The race has also the interest of other parties including Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) which has fronted Eliud Owalo and Moses Wetangula's Ford-Kenya which fielded Ramadhan Butichi.
