Three pupils from Mkulima Primary school who were struck and killed by lightning were on Wednesday laid to rest in Nyota Ward, Kuresoi North Constituency in Nakuru County.

Nakuru leaders attended the funeral service, among them Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui who promised to improve the sorry state of infrastructure of the school. 

"My Government has set aside Shs 2million to construct an ECDE class at Mkulima Primary School," Kinyanjui said.

The governor said that with support from the national government, they will install lightning arrestors in the area to curb the rampant lightning incidences in the area.

"As a precautionary measure we will collaborate with the national government to install lightning arrestors in schools located in lightning prone areas," Governor Kinyanjui said.

The three pupils were struck by lightning on Thursday evening in their classroom where 53 pupils were also injured but are all now stable. The county government catered for all medical bills and funeral expenses of the affected.

Governor Kinyanjui further promised to offer psycho counselling sessions to the injured in the fateful incident.
